Jerry Flannery will be sidelined until next month after failing to have his 6 week ban overturned.
The Ireland hooker was cited for kicking France winger Alexis Palisson during the sides’ 6 Nations match in Paris last month.
The 31 year old appealed his punishment, but failed to have it reduced or rescinded.
That means that Flannery is out of the rest of Ireland’s 6 Nations campaign and won’t be seen on the pitch again until Munster’s Magners League derby with Leinster.
In other news Connacht have named Eric Elwood as their new coach.
The ex Irish out-half will replace Michael Bradley at the end of the season.
Elwood, who made 168 appearances for Connacht, has been assistant coach with the Westerners for the past four and a half years.
