The transport minister says there's no reason why Ireland cannot compete to host the Olympic Games.

Shane Ross says investment in stadiums for the Rugby World Cup could pave the way for an Olympic bid.

He's been answering questions about the Rugby World Cup bid at a Dáil committee this morning.

He believes if Ireland was to win the bid for the men's Rugby World Cup, then 'the sky's the limit' when it comes to hosting future sporting events.

It followed questioning on supporting the possibility of Belfast hosting the Commonwealth Games.
