London's Trafalgar Square was evacuated earlier today by police because of a 'suspicious item'.

According to The Mirror in the UK, there is a heavy police presence at the square.

Photos are circulating on social media of the area cordoned off by police.

Metropolitan Police have tweeted in the last few minutes an update saying it is not being treated as terror related and that roads have reopened.

The incident comes after eight people were killed after a terror attack on London Bridge on Saturday night.
