There is a Status Orange for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

There is a Status Yellow for Donegal, Galway, Clare and Limerick.

Allow extra time for your journey and for your car to de-frost before setting off. Don't forget that stopping distances are ten times longer when driving on snow and ice. Slow down.

Clear snow from your headlights and use dipped headlights at all times.

The worst affected areas so far are along the east coast - Gardai are advising motorists not to travel if possible. 

Bus Eireann say services in the east of the country are being seriously affected by the poor conditions. School transport services not operating in Status Red areas.

Irish rail services are operating fully with delays.

There is significant disruption to flights today, check with your airline.
