Nine fire units are currently battling a huge fire at a scrap metal factory on the Ballysimon Road in Limerick.

A spokesperson for the Munster Fire Control headquarters said it received a 999 alert around 8.18pm about a fire at the United Metals company, Ballysimon Road, Limerick.
Large plumes of smoke is visible for miles around the city, the Limerick City and County Fire Service has asked people living near the fire to close their doors and windows as a health and safety measure.
