There are calls for junk food ads to be banned on TV before 9 at night.

The Irish Heart Foundation says we need to stop promoting snacks to children that are high in sugar, salt and fat.

It has gone through the ads aired during the World Cup and found that over 1,300 junk food ones went out during the knockout stages.

Catherine Reilly is the Irish Heart Foundation's policy manager - she says the ads are having a negative impact:

"What we see is these companies promoting their brand and putting themselves into children's daily diets so children are seeing sporting heroes, athletes with this branding behind them and there associating with them. What we have seen previously children from three years of age recognise more unhealthy than healthy food brands."
