It could be 15 years before the Limerick Regeneration Project is completed.
It’s emerged the crisis in the public finances means that Cowen and Co. can no longer afford the 1.7 billion euro it had pledged for the massive plan.

The plan includes demolishing up to two and a half thousand houses across four Limerick housing estates in an effort to deal with bad planning, anti-social behaviour and poverty.
Talks are ongoing to find more private funding for the regeneration project.
