On Saturday, Simon Thomas revealed the sudden passing of his wife Gemma, who was only 40 years old, after being diagnosed with leukemia only three days prior.

The sky sports reported described how he was "crushed with indescribable pain" and asked people to pray for their 8 year old son who was "in bits".

According to reports, Gemma began feeling unwell the weekend before she passed away and had gone to see a doctor three times before going to a hospital. She was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, which is a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow.

They had one son together, Ethan, and while speaking The Mirror, Simon revealed their son wants is his “mummy back”.

“He said he wants Playmobil and other gifts for Christmas, but most of all ‘I want mummy back’, and I can’t help him with that.”

The old Blue Peter presenter explained how his wife had been transferred to another hospital after her condition deteriorated quickly and there she began chemotherapy.

“For the first couple of days she was responding well,”

He added, “But yesterday morning she went downhill very quickly. She had bleeding on the brain. I was told yesterday morning she would be gone in a few hours.’

Simon shared this emotional photo on his Instagram account yesterday;
