ELLE Beauty and Fitness Director Emily Dougherty spends her days squishing expensive Dior, Bobbi Brown and Chanel lipstick!
But don’t worry – those gorgeous lippies aren’t wasted! Emily explained to SPIN South West that ‘this is how we swatch and save the lipsticks for use at the magazine. Any lipsticks that aren't used in editorial, we sell at a beauty sale and give 100 percent of the proceeds to charity. Since we 'depot' the lipsticks anyways, I thought it would be fun to start recording the depotting. But no mix ever goes to waste” Thats good to know – also good to know is that Emily has an Irish connection – her grand parents are from Donegal and her husbands parents are from Limerick!
She told us that her ‘favorite part of the recent success has been to encourage people to give compliments to each other -- once a week I ask people to tag other people and pay them a heartfelt compliment, and then I give away a set of lipsticks at random to one of participants. It's been so heart-warming to see all of the lovely things that people are saying to each other -- and incredibly special to be part of spreading a little bit of kindness/happiness on social”
