The new series producer on Hollyoaks could be about to wield the axe on several main characters.

It’s reported Paul Marquess – who used to work on The Bill – is getting rid of up to 16 stars.

The characters being mentioned include the entire Valentine and Ashworth families, ‘Newt’ and Jake.

Spencer Gray, Archie Carpenter, Loretta Jones, Dave Colburn, Des Townsend and Gerard McCarthy are also reported to be leaving.
