Archbishop Wants To Separate Church From Schools
The Archbishop of Dublin says he feels there is an over-presence
of Catholic patronage in schools and this needs to change.
Dr Diarmuid Martin says he’s already working with the new Minister
for Education Ruairi Quinn in establishing a forum to identify how schools
can be transferred out of Catholic patronage.
Speaking in the capital this evening, Archbishop Martin says this
process should be complete within the next year, but acknowledges
it will be complicated.
