Niland Victorious At Israel Open
Limerick’s Conor Niland has today won the Israel Open in Ramat Hasharon.Niland defeated Thiago Alves of Brazil to clinch the trophy.
Alves- the number four seed, ranked 116 in the world,- was a set up, but Niland fought back to win 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 in a final that lasted three hours and eight minutes.
The Irishman shocked number three seed Rainer Schuettler in the second round of the tournament in straight sets.
Victory now means that Niland has replaced Louk Sorensen as the Irish number one.
He also moves into the world top 200.
