Deise Take Munster Title
An extra time goal from Dan Shanahan handed Waterford their ninth Munster hurling title, with a 1-16 to 1-13 win over Cork.
The two sides had drawn 2-15 apiece at Semple Stadium in Thurles last Sunday and did battle at the same venue for the replay last night.
And the game was of an exciting standard, with the momentum swinging one way and then the other.
Waterford led by 0-8 to 0-4 after a poor first half but Cork came storming back into the game at the start of the second period and took the lead before the Déise got the upper hand again.
A goal from sub Shanahan proved crucial in the additional 20 minutes for the Déise, as the period of extra time was also neck and neck.
